Oct 09 - Osasuna, Real Zaragoza & Valencia
31st October 2009 - Osasuna 1 Barcelona 1
If the La Liga season goes down to the wire with the title decided by 1 or 2 points, then it will very likely be this game to which many look back upon. A 90th minute own goal was the equaliser for Osasuna and the difference between a hard fought 3 points and 1. Keita for Barcelona scored in the 72nd minute, finaly putting Barcelona ahead after they bombarded the Osasuna goal for long periods. The Keita goal looked as though it would be enough and give Barcelona a well deserved away win. It was not to be.
The Champions League group games return as the focus this week and Barca play again against FC Rubin Kazan, the team who surprised Barcelona with an away win at the Nou Camp in the earlier match. A loss also in this game for Barcelona could spell danger, with Inter Milan and Dynamo Kiev also in the same group. Barcelona though will still fancy their chances away from home on Wednesday.
26th October 2009 - Barcelona 6 Real Zaragoza 1
Real Zaragoza you could say were hit for six in more ways than one with Barcelona dominating this game from start to finish and looking every inch the Champions. With the knowledge that closest rivals Real Madrid had drawn the evening before, Barcelona needed no extra incentive.
With Ibrahimovic back in the team having been on the bench in their draw versus Valencia, it was always likely to mean a return to the goals which seem to follow Ibrahimovic's appearances. Ibrahimovic netted one in each half but this time it was Keita who stole Ibrahimovic's thunder with Keita scoring a wonderfully taken hat-trick. Goals in the 24th, 41st and 86th minutes for Keita saw him the hero of the Catalan crowd on this perfect performance. A goal by Messi made it 6 and a Lopez consolation in the 78th for Real meant little.
Barcelona next play on the 31st October, this time away to Osasuna, a team sat right in the middle of La Liga and who might fancy their chanches but one suspects will be Barcelona's next victims.
18th October 2009 - Valencia 0 Barcelona 0
Barcelona lost their 100% record for this season, dropping two points away from home, on their visit to Valencia. With Ibrahimovic on the bench, Barcelona struggled for the first time this season and a point was perhaps more than the Catalans deserved in this game. Valencia in fact looked the stronger team on the day and the home side are tough to beat in front of their home crowd.
Messi, Toure, Xavi and Pedrito all had chanches during the game but Barcelona never really looked quite like scoring. Barcelona though remain on top of La Liga and one off day is not enough to stop Barcelona is they can return to form in coming games. Barcelona next play at home in La Liga on the 25th October v Real Zaragoza.
5th October 2009 - Barcelona 1 Almeria 0
Wins whether by 1 goal or 6 all mean three points and fans will have enjoyed an espresso on Monday morning knowing that their 1-0 victory gives them a lead on top of La Liga. Rivals Real Madrid slipped to defeat against Sevilla and Barcelona re now the only team with a 100% record in the league.
The game against Almeria was not the most exiciting game fans have seen at the Nou Camp Stadum in recent years but Pedrito was the scorer in the 31st minute with what was a quality and well taken goal. A deft turn and a solid shot past the reach of the Almeria goally put Barcelona ahead. International games in Europe for World Cup qualifiers mean a break this coming weekend in La Liga.
